Length: 39 km
Difficulty: Medium
Route: From Passo del Tonale, the itinerary continues along a dirt road leading to Ospizio San Bartolomeo, also known as La Mirandola. Upon reaching the junction indicating the direction to Val di Strino, take the descent on the right.
The route then enters the forest near Forte Mero. You’ll then reach another junction leading to Forte Zaccarana; from here, the descent continues to the right until the beginning of Val di Strino. In this section, the forest thins out, gradually revealing the natural beauty of the valley.
You cross the Rio Strino before climbing again through the forest to Malga Mezzolo.
The ascent ends at a fascinating viewpoint over Val di Sole. Here, you enter a more challenging trail that gently descends towards Val Verniana. After crossing a stream and passing the Masi di Verniana, the route climbs again along a forest road leading to Val Saviana. From there, the path continues towards Malga Boai.
A long descent on a forest road brings you to the valley floor. After passing through the historic center of Cortina and crossing the main road, you cross the Vermigliana stream and climb up the opposite side to the Vermiglio ponds.
Crossing the meadows of Cadin, you reach the road leading to Rifugio Denza. After a short climb, at a hairpin bend, take the turnoff for Baita Velon.
Continue through the forest following the course of the Vermigliana stream until you reach Viscle, where a wooden bridge allows you to cross.
The route then climbs again after joining the military road leading to Passo del Tonale. You pass Malga Pecè and continue to the start of the Presena riverbed dirt road. After a short climb, turn right and follow the route back to the starting point at Passo del Tonale.
