A breath of fresh air in the mountains: new facilities in Alto Adige and Abruzzo
Also this year in Alta Badia a lift will be renewed, thus maintaining the very high standard of the ski area. The four-seater chairlift "La Fraina" will be replaced by a new six-seater chairlift with automatic grip. The area concerned is the one that connects La Villa to San Cassiano and serves the red run that goes from Piz Sorega to the Bamby area, where the chairlift in question and the Bamby chairlift that leads to Piz la Ila start.
New air also at Plan de Corones – another resort always keeping up with the times, if not even ahead of them – where the old Belvedere cable car will be replaced by a new one capable of carrying 3,300 people per hour at a speed of 6 m/s: it will become the lift with the highest transport capacity in the entire ski area.
Finally, there will also be interesting news in Abruzzo. In Roccaraso a gondola lift is planned to be built departing from Pizzalto and arriving at the Gravare, with an intermediate station that will be located near the former ANAS Cantoniera. A second gondola will instead connect the Gravare area with the Toppe del Tesoro where the most technical FIS-approved slopes are located, which could in the future host international competitions. The only doubt concerns the timing: in fact there is still no certainty that the definitive go-ahead for the works will be obtained in time to have these lifts ready for 2015/2016.
