Ski rentals are ready and safe!
To the attention of President Conte, the Ministers of Health and Sport.
As the Rent and Go association, we represent quality ski rentals in Italy. Since 1996, our focus and goal have been to offer ski rentals that are as safe and hygienic as possible. We were the first in Italy to make helmets mandatory for children (10 years before the law) and to adopt professional equipment to sanitize and disinfect helmets and boots.
We represent 70 ski rentals out of 1,000 in Italy, but we also speak on behalf of the other 930.
The mountains are safe. It seems absurd to have to say it, but you cannot compare mid-August beach parties and nightclubs with the mountains and ski slopes; just as a cable car is not a subway!
We ask to be allowed to work, based on the protocols defined by the lift operators, already unanimously approved by the regions. These rules limit the “ski flows” to 50% and define methods that drastically, if not completely, reduce the risk of contagion on the snow.
Skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing… are all outdoor sports that promote health! A snow vacation trains body and mind, increases endurance and metabolism. At high altitude, fat burning is stimulated, with benefits for blood pressure and oxygen supply to the brain. Skiing improves lung capacity. Even one day can boost the immune system, while reducing stress and “lockdown” depression.
Of course, that’s not enough to protect us from COVID-19; that’s why for months we have been working to protect customers and employees, together with lift operators, hoteliers, ski schools, and other snow professionals. We have developed protocols and measures to remove any obstacles to a safe and carefree experience on the snow.
All Rent and Go rentals are equipped to comply with safety regulations against COVID-19: distancing, masks, hand and surface disinfection, limited entry, equipment sanitation, extra staff, online booking, in-hotel delivery, internal process adjustments and much more.
If we reopen, our rentals are super-ready to ensure safe fun on the snow!
Closing between 26/12 and 7/1, the days when our entire sector generates a large share of its annual revenue, would be a declared catastrophe.
